Understanding the Role

What is a Precinct?

What is a Precinct Delegate?

The smallest political unit in the state. It is your neighborhood.

All voters in a precinct cast their ballots at a single location.

The precinct is where elections can be won and lost.

It is your neighborhood. You know the people and what issues are most important to them.

It is the active precinct delegate who wins close elections for the Democratic Party candidates.

Precinct delegates serve as a bridge between the Democrats in your neighborhood and the Democratic Party.

Your Impact

  • Inform & Engage: Bring information about issues and candidates directly to your precinct, and keep party leadership and candidates informed about your precinct's concerns.
  • Register Voters: Help your neighbors get registered to vote.
  • Turn Out the Vote: Encourage Voting at Home (Absentee)and Voting Early or on Election Day. We want to make sure Democratic supporters get out to vote by making a plan that fits with their schedules.
